Dead of Night (Universal, 1946). Very Fine- on Linen. One Sheet (27" X 41").
Scarcely seen at auction, this is an original US one sheet for one of just a handful of true horror films released during British cinema's first half-century, and certainly the most important in the genre until the beginning of Hammer's horror cycle a decade later. An architect arrives at a country house and realizes he has dreamed of the people there before, each guest recounting a strange supernatural tale. The stories range from eerie to darkly comic, culminating in a chilling ventriloquist sequence. Backed to linen, the poster exhibits touchup to the folds, fold junctions, and a small hole in the billing block. There are some stray pinholes and bunching down the left side of the poster. The top left corner has come free of the backing. Overall, the poster presents well and would be a great addition to any horror collection.
