The Cook (Paramount, 1918). Fine/ Very Fine. Lobby Card (11" X 14").
Fatty Arbuckle, Buster Keaton, and Al St. John star in this silent slapstick comedy, which was thought to be lost until the Norwegian Film Archive found a damaged nitrate print in 1998. One of its best scenes features Arbuckle spoofing the 1918 Theda Bara film Salome, as he dances around with sausage links, pots and pans, and a cabbage in the place of John the Baptist's head. Equally charming is the seemingly deadly, deadpan exchange seen here, between these two icons of silent comedy. This lobby card shows pinholes in the borders, corner bends, unobtrusive stains and smudges, and a couple of small tears, especially along the lower margin.
