Description

Metropolis (UFA, 1927). British Program (Multiple Pages, 7.5" X 10").
Fritz Lang's masterful science fiction epic virtually invented the genre. Lang created a chilling vision of the future in which man is divided into two groups, the Thinkers and the Workers. Thinkers developed the ideas that would propel society while Workers made the ideas reality. Long segregated, a Thinker dares to venture into the sub-terranean world of the workers causing turmoil. The film cost five million marks to produce, nearly bankrupting UFA. In spite of the film's financial woes, it remains one of the most important movies ever made. This original British program is full of information related to the film including actor interviews, special effects secrets and a budget breakdown. There are several images from the film on almost every page, including two full pages and a spread featuring a collage of glorious black and white images. This is the quintessential insider's guide to the film directly from UFA. The front cover has punch holes along the spine. Fine+.
