Description
Casablanca (Warner Brothers, 1942). Very Fine. Hair and Makeup Keybook Photos (12) (7.5" X 9.5"). From the personal collection of Hollywood makeup artist Fred L. Williams.Vintage gelatin silver, single weight, satin finish keybook photos, used for various hair and makeup tests for Michael Curtiz's masterpiece. One of the most honored and beloved American films of all time, this WWII era classic set the standard for romantic spy thrillers. Humphrey Bogart is Rick Blaine, a nightclub owner who's grown tired of wars and the men who fight them. He manages to steer clear of the Nazis until his former lover (Ingrid Bergman) turns up with her husband (Paul Henreid) looking for safe passage to America. These extremely rare studio photos are making their Heritage debut, featuring the gorgeous Bergman sitting for numerous hair and makeup tests for various scenes. They once belonged to the collection of Fred L. Williams, an esteemed makeup artist and celebrity portrait painter known best for his work with Jerry Lewis and Lucille Ball, among many others. These well preserved photos show light edge wear, slight creases, and soft surface rippling. There are hole punches in the left side of the photos and small bits of wax pencil writing in the borders and interior, both from official studio usage. Very Fine.
