The Postman Always Rings Twice (MGM, 1946). Fine- on Linen. Three Sheet (41" X 79").
Drifter Frank Chambers (John Garfield) and devastatingly attractive Cora Smith (Lana Turner) plot to bump off Cora's husband, Nick (Cecil Kellaway), for his insurance money. Arrested after committing the murder, they beat the rap in court, but soon find that they still must pay the price for their crime. Based on a novel by James M. Cain, the screenplay required a number of drafts over many years to enable it to conform with the Hays Code restrictions. This three sheet poster features completely different art than the one sheet, and is even more passionate as well. It had many cracks and creases in it at one time and which have now been corrected through restoration. It has had airbrushing to the white background and the blue background of the title block. The poster still exhibits some silverfish nibbling in the face of Turner and Garfield.
