A striking and atmospheric image of Veronica Lake towers over this moody three sheet, produced for the film adaptation of Somerset Maugham's novel. Set in England during World War II, the tense thriller stars Lake as a Nazi spy posing as an Austrian refugee. She marries a wealthy pacifist, Jim Hetherton (Franchot Tone), in a calculated attempt to uncover a secret military base. Despite a strong script and solid performances, audiences at the time were unsettled by Lake's portrayal of a Nazi, leading to the film's lackluster reception upon release. This poster is a first-time offering from Heritage, and expert restoration has resulted in a poster that presents extremely well. The borders have been airbrushed, touchup has been applied to the crossfolds, and small tears have been sealed.
