Offered here for the first time at Heritage is an extremely scarce tie-in poster produced by Warner Bros. to advertise the photoplay edition of the source novel by B. Traven for The Treasure of the Sierra Madre. In B. Traven's novel, the story delves deeper into the characters' inner thoughts and the social themes of exploitation and class struggle. The 1948 film by John Huston streamlines the narrative, focuses more on greed and moral decay, and alters the ending to emphasize irony and fate over political commentary. The film stands as one of Humphrey Bogart's finest performances, and among the best work of both Huston and his father, Walter Huston. Folded as issued the poster exhibits some light toning and minor wear.
