Description

The Adventures of Robin Hood (Warner Bros., 1938). Fine+ on Linen. Other Company Three Sheet (40.75" X 77").
The Adventures of Robin Hood, infinitely beloved around the globe to this day, redefined the swashbuckling genre, becoming one of the most celebrated adventure films of all time. Directed by Michael Curtiz and William Keighley, the film stars Errol Flynn in his dashing role as the legendary outlaw, Robin Hood, alongside Olivia de Havilland as the radiant Maid Marian, Basil Rathbone as the aristocratic Sir Guy of Gisbourne, and Claude Rains as the conniving Prince John. Flynn's landmark performance cemented his place as a reigning king of adventure, defining his career more than any other role before or since. Known for its vibrant Technicolor cinematography, thrilling action sequences, and a perfect blend of action, romance, humor, and drama, the film set a new standard for adventure films and became a benchmark in Hollywood's Golden Age, and its famous duel between Flynn and Rathbone is one of the most enduring fight scenes in cinematic history. Nominated for four Academy Awards, The Adventures of Robin Hood remains a quintessential Hollywood adventure epic and the stuff of movie legend. Being offered for only the second time in Heritage's history is this remarkable Other Company three sheet. Featuring artwork entirely distinct from any studio-issued poster, it beautifully captures a romantic depiction of Flynn and de Havilland above, with Flynn and Rathbone locked in the dramatic duel below. Backed on linen which has been trimmed to the borders, airbrushing has been applied sparingly along the borders to correct edge and fold wear, some staining, a few tears and paper lifts, and a couple of small chips. Additionally, touchup and some airbrushing has addressed some flaws along the folds throughout the interior including fold wear, creases, mostly minor fold and crossfold separation, and some tears.
