Description
Rob 'em Good (Metro, 1923). One Sheet (27" X 41").Here's a great Tooker stone litho for a still funny comedy short starring pug-nosed Italian wrestler/actor Bull Montana. It's extremely clever art, and you might study it a moment to appreciate what they've done. There's enough back story to write a long article about Bull, but the short version is that Douglas Fairbanks befriended him after watching him wrestle and put him in several Fairbanks films. Then Oscar winner Hunt Stromberg (The Great Ziegfeld) who knew Montana from when Stromberg was a sports writer, hired the big man with the wicked sense of humor to play the hilarious double roles of "The Earl of Nothingdone" and "The Knight of the Cauliflower" in this Robin Hood spoof. There are just minor crossfold separations with some museum tape on the verso, and some small tears in the top horizontal fold. Very Fine-.
