Invasion of the Body Snatchers (Allied Artists, 1956). Half Sheet (22" X 28") Style B.
In one of the quintessential science fiction films of the 1950s, alien pods arrive on Earth and begin to "absorb" the humans around them. Eventually they take over their hosts and control their minds. The film was an allegory for the fear and paranoia that was sweeping America during the Red Scare of the era. This half sheet is the extremely rare style B and is considered one of the most sought after posters of the genre. It is usually the one poster that is missing from most science fiction collections and this presents a wonderful opportunity to acquire this rarity. All of the borders have airbrush work including some of the background into the inset image on the lower left. The yellow "block" in the upper right has been retouched as have the principle figures in the foreground and the poster has been pressed to take out the fold lines. All of these issues were minor and the poster now appears very fine. Folded, Fine-.
