Description
Some Like It Hot (United Artists, 1959). One Sheet (27.5" X 40.75").This 1959 Billy Wilder comedy is a remake of the 1935 French movie, Fanfare d'Amour, which was also remade in 1951 by German director Kurt Hoffman. The French and German versions did not incorporate the gangster motif, which was an important thread in Wilder's film. The movie garnered an Academy Award for best costume design, and both Marilyn Monroe and Jack Lemmon won Golden Globes for their performances. Over the years, the picture has gained further acclaim, and paper from the film continues to be in high demand. The terrifically campy one sheet offered here is a perennial crowd pleaser, with a winking Sugar "Kane" (Monroe) embracing her "girls," Lemmon and Tony Curtis. The borders have been replaced slightly into the background, and touchup applied to small fold and crossfold separation, and pinholes in the borders. The professional restoration resulted in an incredibly attractive collectible. Very Good/Fine on Linen.
