Wings (Paramount, 1927). Title Lobby Card (11" X 14").
William Wellman's aviation masterpiece was the first recipient of the Best Picture Academy Award in 1929, and was a box office sensation. Clara Bow, Charles "Buddy" Rogers, and Richard Arlen star, with a key role by a young Gary Cooper. Offered here is the original flat stock (rather than the linen finish) title card, a very rare and striking item which features all three stars. We believe this card may date from the "sound" release of the film approximately a year after it debuted. It is more rare than the linen finish title card. The image area is very clean, but the card shows a tear at the top that extends into the production credit, one pinhole in Bow's shoulder, a chip and crease in the top left corner, and a stain in the lower right and top left corners. Paper from this superb title is always in high demand, and this is a classic piece of movie history. Fine.
