Description

Son of Kong (RKO, 1933). Three Sheet (41" X 81") Style B.
Picking up where King Kong left off, producer and showman Carl Denham (Robert Armstrong) finds himself the subject of numerous lawsuits in the wake of Kong's destruction of New York. To escape the suits, Denham takes off with the captain of the Venture and decide to head back to Skull Island where they are convinced they will find a secret treasure. Stowing away on the ship is a young woman named Hilda (Helen Mack). By accident, they do find a treasure, but of more interest, they find a small albino version of Kong that Denham names Little Kong. This poster depicts the climactic ending of the film as Skull Island sinks into the ocean and Little Kong comes to Hilda's rescue. The poster was printed in three sections. There were small holes in the borders that have been retouched. There is also a small bit of color touchup along the fold lines with just a bit more at the center point by Kong's head. There was also a small chip out of the upper right corner. For years, other than a few window cards, the posters for this film were not known to exist. When several were found in 2006, however, many didn't even feature the title character. This is one of the very few to have survived and feature the legendary Son of Kong. Very Fine on Linen.
