Description
The Wife He Bought (Universal Film Manufacturing, 1918). One Sheet (28.5" X 42").Receiving top billing and rendered in a stunning portrait on this rare stone litho one sheet is Carmel Myers, whose beauty has been called "bewitching." A protégée of D.W. Griffith, Myers made her debut with his Triangle company in 1916, quickly garnishing roles opposite the likes of Rudolph Valentino, Douglas Fairbanks, and John Barrymore. A natural "vamp" of this cinematic era, she was at her best as Iras in the 1926 version of Ben-Hur. In The Wife He Bought, Myers plays the love interest of Kenneth Harlan. The poster displays very well after restoration addressed two tears in the right border that extend slightly into the background, small chips in the right border, three chips with tears in the left border, fold wear, and cross fold separation. Fine/Very Fine on Linen.
