Description
20th Century (Columbia, 1934). Half Sheet (22" X 28") Portrait Style.Carole Lombard and John Barrymore were cast as the rising star and the Broadway producer who develops her career in this sensational comedy. Many feel that this was the film that helped establish the screwball comedy as a separate genre and one that was to gain popularity throughout the rest of the 1930s. Lombard was a sensation in the genre, and would go on to make a number of other screwball comedies while Barrymore would declare that this was among one of his favorite films. Signs of wear include a faint dust shadow in the left border, tears in the borders, pinholes in the bottom border, chips in the corners, and a crease in the top border. This "Portrait Style" is one of two half sheet formats presented in this auction, the other being the "Profile Style." This very rare half sheet is a perfect choice for serious collectors. Rolled, Fine/Very Fine.
