Description
Noah's Ark (Warner Brothers, 1928). Half Sheet (22" X 28"). Directed by a young Michael Curtiz, this Warner Brothers epic had aspirations of becoming another "Intolerance" (1916). In the end, Curtiz's treatise of man's inhumanity to man was ironically sabotaged by the enormous success of his studio's release of the groundbreaking "The Jazz Singer" (1927). With her name above the title, Dolores Costello, the future Mrs. John Barrymore, starred with George O'Brien, who would later play the lead in many a "B" Western. At the last minute, Warner Brothers went back and added dialogue sequences which reportedly threw the pace of the film completely off. Note that a young Darryl Francis Zanuck is credited as the author of the story on which the screenplay was based! This poster is rolled and has some wear to all of the borders and minor scuffing at a couple of small spots within the image. Overall, this poster is in very presentable condition and would glow were it to be washed and restored by a professional. Rolled, Fine-.Heritage Auctions provides as much information as possible but strongly encourages in-person inspection.
