Invasion of the Body Snatchers (Allied Artists, 1956). Half Sheet (22" X 28") Style B.
A departure, albeit a grim one, from the 1950's mutating, multiplying, mauling creature features, Invasion of the Body Snatchers takes a different play off of the decade's rampant paranoia brought on by blacklisting McCarthyism. The unsettling concept that the enemy is very much among us manifests itself in the form of aliens (aka Communists) that arrive and take over human bodies in a small California hamlet. Kevin McCarthy is the town doctor who first realizes the gravity of the situation, and Sam Peckinpah (before becoming the great director of Westerns) makes an appearance in a bit part and assists with the screenplay. This wildly popular "Spotlight Dance" half sheet is in highly presentable condition. There is very light edge wear, a stain on the lower border and a couple of scuff marks from the top edge into the title. Folded, Very Fine.
