Description

River of No Return (20th Century Fox, 1954). Fine/Very Fine on Linen. French Grande (46.25" X 62.75") Roger Soubie Artwork.
Sold only once before in our history, Heritage is thrilled to once again present this gorgeous French grande for River of No Return. A rugged Western adventure, the film follows recently released prisoner Matt Calder (Robert Mitchum) as he navigates a treacherous river journey through the Canadian wilderness with his young son and a saloon singer (Marilyn Monroe), facing both natural dangers and human threats while pursuing the villainous Harry Weston (Rory Calhoun). Accomplished poster artist Roger Soubie captures the film's spirit with a vivid image of Monroe set against a swirling blue-green river, evoking the peril and excitement of the frontier. Directed by Otto Preminger and filmed in breathtaking CinemaScope, the movie reflects 1950s American ideals of survival and redemption, while also highlighting Monroe in one of her most physically demanding and dramatically nuanced roles. Light touchup to parts of the folds has addressed fold wear, creases, small crossfold separation, fold separation, and a few minute chips. Some flaws, including mostly light smudges/scuffs and a few minor areas of image ghosting, remain visible.
