Description
Storm Over Mont Blanc (Aafa-Film, 1930). French Grande (47" X 63"). Roger Soubie Artwork.Leni Riefenstahl, best known for her innovative work as the director of Triumph of the Will (1935) and Olympia (1938), was also a successful producer, screenwriter, author, editor, photographer, dancer and actress. In this film, she plays the daughter of an astronomer at the Chamonix observatory who helps rescue a meteorologist (Sepp Rist) caught in a storm at his weather station near the summit of Mont Blanc. Although Riefenstahl's relationship with the Nazi party was questioned over the years, she continued to hone her talents and enjoyed a prodigious career in the arts spanning eight decades. In her nineties, Riefenstahl survived a plane crash in the Sudan while working a project. She died shortly after her 101st birthday in 2003. Roger Soubie designed this breathtaking French grande, featuring an aerial view of the mountain peak of the title. This is the first paper from Storm Over Mont Blanc that Heritage has presented. Touchup was applied to the folds, and a small chip in the top crossfold. Very Fine- on Linen.
