Description
Ladies of Leisure (Columbia, 1930). Very Good/Fine. Window Card (14" X 22") Picker Artwork. The 23-year-old Barbara Stanwyck became a star with the help of young director Frank Capra in this pre-Code sensibility film, concerning a free-spirited model/ call-girl/ "lady of leisure," and the wealthy young artist who falls head over heels in love with her, much to his stuffy mother's chagrin. They would team up for four more films in the next ten years, some of Stanwyck's best, with some of the most egregiously Production Code-challenging themes. Heritage has never offered any other size poster from this film (and only one other of these before) and its rarity is well known in the hobby. Prior to restoration, this window card showed some creases, tears, chips, and bits of surface wear, and color fading. All of these issues have been nicely addressed with linen-backing, airbrushing, and spot retouching, though on close examination some creasing is still barely visible.
Heritage Auctions provides as much information as possible but strongly encourages in-person inspection.
