The Masks of the Devil (MGM, 1928). Very Good/Fine on Linen. One Sheet (27" X 41").
Set in Vienna during the early 20th century, the story follows Baron Erich von Hohenburg (John Gilbert), a dashing officer who is engaged to the beautiful but superficial Countess Fedora (Carmel Myers). Complications arise when he falls in love with a more sincere and self-sacrificing woman, Maria (Vilma Bánky). Backed to linen, there has ben touch-up to address wear and splits to the folds; chipping to the bottom left border and corner; a chip to the right of John's ear, tape removal from the verso, as well as airbrushing to the yellow background right of John's face and above the title. Additionally, a 4" X 4" triangular segment including some border and image elements was missing and a very talented artiste recreated the missing portion perfectly. Thanks to these efforts, the poster displays very well. A first time offering at Heritage.
