Japan's Studio Ghibli has captured hearts across the globe with this fanciful film, now among one of the most famous features to ever come out of Japan. Released as a double bill with Ghibli's emotional film Grave of the Fireflies, the pictures generated only modest sales at the box office, but had a long run of over nine months in theaters. During this period, My Neighbor Totoro won multiple awards. Two new posters were printed in 1989 to celebrate these accolades, one being the more common, but still rare, "Cat Bus" style. The "Flute" style B2 offered here is arguably the rarest and most desirable of any of the posters for the film, and the tagline translates as "This strange creature is still in Japan. Maybe." It's easy to see way such a beautiful image is in high demand! In wonderful shape, this country of origin B2 has soft horizontal creases through the image.
