King Cowboy (FBO, 1928). Very Fine- on Linen. One Sheet (27" X 40.5") Style A.
A King of the silent cowboys indeed, this Tom Mix portrait is one of the better one sheets we've seen for the second of only six pictures the Western star made with FBO after his profitable career with Fox and just before he transitioned to Universal. Set in Africa, a band of cowboys headed by Mix embarks on a search for their missing boss. Mix and his buddies are captured, while the leading lady Polly Randall (Sally Blane) is consigned to the sinister Emir's harem. Of course, our hero foils the plans of the villain and recuses the heroine in the process. A Heritage first, this handsome Style A stone litho portrait of the gun-slinging star has been skillfully placed on linen and benefits from touchup to a tiny chip in the top border and in the top left corner. Prior to linen backing the poster had a few strips of tape on the verso which does not affect the interior image.
