The Speed Maniac (Fox, 1919). Fine+ on Linen. One Sheet (28" X 41.5").
This silent Fox production directed by Edward LeSaint features Tom Mix in a special of love, stunts, and thrills as ranch owner Billy Porter who leaves the wilderness to seek his fortune in San Francisco with his engine invention. This five-reel action feature was complete with boxing matches, auto races, and romance, and was one of eight Mix pictures released in 1919, just two short years after his departure from Selig. A now lost film, The Speed Maniac offered audiences a novelty experience as it perhaps contained more stunts than any other Mix picture during this period, some even vetoed by the director and to the dismay of the lead actor. Co-starring Eva Novak and Buck Jones, the film proved to be successful and further propelled Mix's career with Fox until later signing with FBO in the late 20s. This poster is offered for the first time by Heritage, and this outstanding stone litho has been professionally restored and backed on linen. The poster has benefited from light touchup to fold wear, creases, and a few chips in the borders and top horizontal fold. Parts of the borders and the top left horizontal fold have been airbrushed.
