Love on the Run is a fast-paced romantic comedy starring Clark Gable and Joan Crawford as a roguish reporter and a runaway bride who become entangled in an international espionage adventure. Directed by W.S. Van Dyke, the film blends screwball comedy, romance, and action as the duo dodges spies and races across Europe. This 24 sheet poster, almost certainly the only example to have survived to the present day, was discovered in Denmark and represents a remarkable piece of early Hollywood advertising. As 24 sheets were meant to be pasted onto billboards or buildings, the number that exist from any pre-World War II film is incredibly small, let alone one depicting two of the greatest actors of all time. This poster was printed in 15 sections that were designed to overlap, and shows only light fold wear with tiny bits of paper loss at some crossfolds and borders, as well as a few tiny Danish stamps in the white background. This poster would be the highlight of any collection of early Hollywood, and we can all but guarantee it will be a good while before there is another chance to bid on one.
