Description

The Ghost of Frankenstein (Universal, 1942). Folded, Fine+. Insert (14" X 36").
The Ghost of Frankenstein, the fourth entry in Universal's legendary series, marked the first time the Monster was portrayed by someone other than Boris Karloff, with Lon Chaney Jr. stepping into the role for his sole appearance as the iconic creature. Sir Cedric Hardwicke stars as Dr. Ludwig Frankenstein, who is pressured by the ghost of his father and manipulated by the scheming Ygor, played masterfully by Bela Lugosi, to continue the family's dark legacy through a dangerous brain transplant. As Ygor conspires with the disgraced Dr. Bohmer (Lionel Atwill) to place his own brain into the Monster's powerful body, the film builds toward a chilling climax underscored by strong performances from a cast that includes Evelyn Ankers and Ralph Bellamy. The vibrant insert offered here, echoing the design of the rare three sheet, captures the eerie allure of this atmospheric and pivotal chapter in the Frankenstein saga. Signs of age and use include light edge and fold wear, corner bends, pinholes, creases, scuffs/smudges, a few small border tears, a couple of slight gouges within the interior and image, toning, and staining along the lower border and within the bottom corners. Additionally, there are four minor strips of plastic tape on the verso.
