Description
The Wolf Man (Universal, 1941). Fine/Very Fine. Lobby Card (11" X 14").This landmark Universal horror film introduced one of cinema's most enduring monsters. Lon Chaney Jr. stars as Larry Talbot, who returns to his ancestral home in Wales, only to be bitten by a werewolf. Cursed to transform under the full moon, Talbot is plagued by a struggle between his human conscience and his savage, uncontrollable instincts. With Jack Pierce's legendary makeup design and the memorable silver-headed cane as key visual elements, The Wolf Man cemented its place as a cornerstone of Universal's iconic monster legacy. Heritage presents here the famous 'Waltz Card' showing Ilona Massey in the arms of the Wolf Man and is among the most prized pieces on the film. There is a minute chip and small split to the upper left corner, wear to the upper right and lower left corners, and another small chip at bottom right. Pinholes in the borders have been filled as have several within the image area, mostly down the center line with one above the Wolf Man's head, a couple in Ilona's dress and below. Thanks to these efforts, the card displays very nicely. There is additionally a minute split in the lower border, two small tape pulls to the upper corners on the verso and the card is toned.
