Dracula [Spanish Language Version] (Universal, 1931). Very Fine-. Spanish Herald (4.5" X 6") M. Guarne Artwork.
Presented here is an original Spanish herald for the 1931 Spanish language version of Dracula. After production ended for the day on the Tod Browning film, a second crew, helmed by George Melford, took over the same sets and shot a second version of the film starring Carlos Villarias as the Transylvanian count. Browning was reportedly diminished by alcoholism during the shooting of the English language adaptation, and as a result, many who've seen both would rate Melford's effort as the superior film thanks to its enhanced atmospherics and creative camera work. Featuring unique cover artwork by M. Guarne, the herald unfolds to reveal a large image of Villarias menacing Tovar in her bed, emphasizing the pre-code nature of the film. There is a crease at upper right of the back cover. Otherwise, the herald presents beautifully.
