Metropolis (UFA, 1929). Near Mint. First Release Japanese B5 Chirashi (6" X 8.75").
This incredible Chirashi (handbill) from the film's first release in Japan features one of the art designs originally created for the film's campaign in Germany; the image of Brigitte Helm about to be converted into a robot capable of following the orders of the mad scientist Rotwang (Rudolph-Klein Rogge). The image on the back of the handbill features art of the Metropolis itself along with the planes that fly the elite class to their homes in the sky. The film also starred Alfred Abel, Gustav Frohlich, Fritz Rasp, Theodor Loos, Erwin Biswanger, Heinrich George and was directed by Fritz Lang from a script by Thea von Harbou. This amazing handbill shows virtually no signs of use at all.
