Description

The Third Man (Selznick, 1949). Very Fine. Lobby Card Set of 8 (11" X 14").
American pulp novelist Holly Martins (Joseph Cotton) arrives in post-World War II Vienna, invited to work by his old friend Harry Lime (Orson Welles), only to learn that Lime has just died in a traffic accident. At the funeral, Martins becomes suspicious when the details of Lime's death don't add up. Martins is told by British officer Major Calloway (Trevor Howard) that Lime was deeply involved in the black market, particularly in selling diluted penicillin. Martins gradually uncovers that Lime's death was faked and that he is, in fact, very much alive and still operating in the shadows. A noted classic of film noir, it is loved by Welles fans and hailed as one of Carol Reed's best directing efforts. This wonderful set has some small corner creases or bumps and a few minute corner chips. Two cards have small tape residues on the verso and three have tape pulls, also to the verso.
