The Bicycle Thieves (ENIC, R-1952). Fine/Very Fine on Linen. Italian 2 - Fogli (39" X 55").
Vittorio De Sica's classic of Neorealism -- shot in a largely improvisational manner with non-professional actors -- is about a man and his son searching for a stolen bicycle that is vital to the father's job. Artist Ercole Brini created this lovely Italian foglio for the 1952 reissue of the title, with a muted color palette that suits the film's somber tone. Prior to the excellent restoration, the poster showed edge wear with chipping and fold wear.
