The Honor System (Fox, 1917). Very Fine- on Linen. One Sheet (27" X 41").
Best known for her leading role in D.W. Griffith's The Birth of a Nation, Miriam Cooper stars alongside Milton Sills in this silent drama about a man wrongly convicted of a crime. Cooper married Griffith's assistant director, Raoul Walsh, in a secret 1916 ceremony and the couple moved to Fox studios just before the film entered production. Cooper made $1,000 a week for her role as Edith. Years later, while being interviewed by Kevin Brownlow, Cooper found Walsh's shooting script for the film on the back of an envelope. In 1919 The Honor System played for the Prince of Wales when he visited New York. Walsh directed his wife Cooper in twelve films at Fox before she retired in 1923. Touchup was applied to the folds, a 4" tear to upper right and to left, border folds were airbrushed. Faint image ghosting remains above the head from lower lettering.
