The Lonely Trail (Republic, 1936). One Sheet (27" X 41").
The Lonely Trail, directed by Joseph Kane, stars John Wayne as veteran Union officer John Ashley, who upon his return to his hometown in Texas, finds his presence unwanted by his former neighbors, who have all sided with the Confederacy. This was the seventh outing for Wayne in the newly formed Republic Studios where he would spend much of his career. Though now seen as a racist film in light of the stereotypes employed, it is one of Wayne's best posters of the 1930s, in our opinion. The poster has professional restoration that has used slight touchup to the folds and to pinholes in the corners and tiny chips in the top border. It receives our highest grade for a poster placed in linen. The linen has been trimmed up to the border. This poster comes with a wonderful custom made black frame which the buyer may have shipped to them. Very Fine+ on Linen.
