Description
The Maltese Falcon (Warner Brothers, late 1940s). First Post-War Release French Grande (45" X 61").It's been a decade since Heritage last offered this superbly designed French grande, filled with very film noir-esque imagery. This was the third film version of Dashiell Hammett's detective novel, and without doubt, the best. John Huston, a long-established screenwriter, made his directorial debut with The Maltese Falcon. Humphrey Bogart would achieve true stardom portraying Sam Spade, a cynical San Francisco private eye, who at times uses unscrupulous methods as a means to an end, but also adheres to his own personal code of honor. Professional restoration has addressed chips and tears in the background and image area, and touchup has been applied to the folds. A light bit of surface wear can be detected in the studio logo. We are thrilled to be able to again offer this rare foreign version, a great find for one lucky collector! Fine- on Linen.
