Description
Camping Out (Paramount, 1919). One Sheet (27" X 41").Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle, one of the biggest stars of the silent era, got his start in 1913 in Mack Sennett's Keystone studio. While there, he would make hundreds of one reel comedies, several with the Keystone Kops. By 1917 his popularity had grown, and Arbuckle left Keystone to form his own production company, giving him creative control over his projects. His work would come to a halt, however, upon going on trial for the death of actress Virginia Rappe. Despite his acquittal after three trials, the scandal would tarnish his career, leaving him virtually finished in Hollywood. Regardless, Arbuckle is still recognized as an important figure of the silent era of film, making paper with the star highly sought after by collectors. Produced at the height of Arbuckle's career, Camping Out , which was also directed by the star, was thought to be lost until recently. This magnificent one sheet, showcasing a terrific image of Arbuckle, had tearing throughout, pinholes in the borders, and a hole in the lettering to the left of of the image. Professional restoration has addressed these issues, leaving this rare stone litho one sheet in fantastic condition for display. Very Good- on Linen.
