Billy the Kid Returns (Republic, 1938). One Sheet (27" x 41"). Roy Rogers moved to California as a migratory fruit picker in the late 1920s. Once there he formed a successful singing group called Sons of the Pioneers that played on radio and later in films. Rogers began appearing in bit parts and by the early 1940s had succeeded Gene Autry as "King of the Cowboys." Rogers made many films during the 1940s with his trusted sidekick Gabby Hayes, wife Dale Evans and the "smartest horse in the world," Trigger. Early Roger's posters, such as the one featured here, are scarce and highly valued among collectors. Fine on Linen.
