World War I Propaganda (Central Recruiting Committee, 1917). Fine/Very Fine on Linen. Full-Bleed Canadian Recruiting Poster (24.75" X 38.25") "Your Chums Are Fighting, Why Aren't You?" Canada entered World War I as part of the British Empire when the United Kingdom declared war on Germany in 1914, nonetheless the Canadian government ultimately controlled Canada's degree of participation in the war and in turn declared war on Germany cementing their involvement. Many Canadian soldiers voluntarily fought in the Great War as many citizens heavily opposed conscription, leading to the necessity of recruiting posters such as this. A restored poster that displays signs of use. May include slight edge and corner wear/corner bends, some creases and handling wear, minor smudges and scuffs, mostly small chips and tears, pinpoint stains, and subtle toning. Although backed on linen, no additional restoration has been applied. Additionally, the linen has been trimmed to the borders. Grades on all restored items are pre-restoration grades.
