This strikingly imaginative poster by Igor Majstrovsky was created for the first Russian release of Star Wars. In Majstrovsky's surreal reinterpretation, Darth Vader appears as a mechanized jungle cat crowned with a mane of lightsabers, reimagining the Sith Lord through a distinctly avant-garde lens. Although the film did not receive an official Russian release until after the end of Soviet-era censorship, Star Wars had long captured the public's imagination, with its imagery and themes even echoed in state propaganda of the 1980s. A beautiful example of this sought-after design, the poster shows only light edge wear and minor corner bends.
