This twelve-chapter serial stars Bela Lugosi as the mystic Chandu the Magician, reprising the role originated by Edmund Lowe in the 1932 feature film. The story follows Chandu's battle against the cult of Ubasti, who seek to resurrect their ancient princess, Ombira, using the kidnapped Princess Nadji. Combining elements of mysticism, exotic adventure, and early special effects, the serial capitalized on Lugosi's hypnotic persona while allowing him to play a rare heroic role. It later was edited into a feature-length version, giving audiences one of the earliest examples of serialized pulp fantasy on film. This vibrant stone litho six sheet has been linenbacked with touchup to splits and wear along the folds, as well as chips and paper loss to the borders, which have been airbrushed. It presents beautifully.
