The Day the Earth Stood Still (20th Century Fox, 1951). British Quad (30" X 40").
Based on Harry Bates' short story Farewell to the Master (1940), with screenplay by Edmund H. North, this science fiction allegory attracted A-list director Robert Wise because of its anti-military stance. The film was a critical success and was considered one of the best of 1951 and is assuredly one of the best of the science fiction genre, with a poster campaign to match! The graphic-standout British quad is unlike any other paper on this title, and features an impressive image of the giant robot, Gort. It is one of the hardest formats to find from the title. In remarkable condition, the poster only needed light touchup to fold wear. Very Fine+ on Linen.
