Heritage Announces Another Tremendous Selection of Vintage Movie Posters!
Dallas, TX: "It's time for another Heritage movie poster auction, and I couldn't be more excited," said Grey Smith, Director of Vintage Movie Poster auctions for Dallas-based Heritage Auction Galleries.
"We've got another incredible assortment of posters," Smith said. "Not surprisingly, classic horror holds top honors, as we are proud to present an absolutely stunning half sheet for the 1935 classic, Bride of Frankenstein. Paper from the Universal horror films is always in high demand, with Bride leading the desirability list for many collectors. There's also a one sheet from The Raven (1935) in this auction, as well as a lovely Black Cat (1934) half sheet."
"Science fiction fans won't be disappointed either," said Smith, "as all the classic titles are here.
Collectors will find one sheets from such memorable titles as The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951), Invasion of the Saucer Men (1957), War of the Worlds (1953), and Godzilla, King of the Monsters (1956), and even a lobby card from Fritz Lang's landmark Metropolis (1927). Don't miss out on your chance to bid on these beauties now!"
"When it comes to silent films, few stars were as big as the legendary Rudolph Valentino," said Smith, "and we've got a wonderful selection of pieces devoted to this great, yet tragically short-lived, actor, including a beautiful one sheet from The Eagle (1925), several lobby cards from The Son of the Sheik (1926), Valentino's last picture, and several cards from Beyond the Rocks (1922), a film made during a transitional period in Valentino's career. It falls between The Sheik (1922), the film that truly made Valentino a star, and Blood and Sand (1922), the film that cemented his popularity for all time. It's an important film in the Valentino filmography - even though Gloria Swanson is billed as the star - but one from which paper is extremely scarce."
"Classic comedy is not forgotten in this auction," Smith said, "with a lovely one sheet from Laurel & Hardy's Pardon Us (1931), featuring glorious artwork by Al Hirschfeld, a one sheet to an early Stan Laurel film called The Noon Whistle (1923), an exceedingly rare insert for The Cocoanuts, the Marx Brothers' first feature film, and a great one sheet for the Our Gang short, Pay as You Exit (1936)."
"What else is there?" Smith said. "How about a one sheet for Sunset Boulevard (1950), or an unbelievably rare and almost never seen color stock one sheet for The Green Hornet (1939), or a half sheet and a one sheet to the John Ford classic, Stagecoach?"
"Of course, this is merely a small sampling of everything that's coming up in our auction," Smith said, "which I'm confident will be one of our biggest and best yet. To find out more, I'd invite everyone to visit our website at www.HA.com, where they'll find full-color enlargeable images of each lot in the auction, along with our complete and informative catalog descriptions. They'll even be able to place their bids online from the comfort and convenience of their home or office."
