Heritage Does It Again! Vintage Movie Poster Auction Breaks $1.5 Million Mark for the Third Time

DALLAS, TEXAS: Heritage Auction Galleries' latest Vintage Movie Poster auction, held on November 14 & 15 in the company's Dallas, Texas world headquarters, realized $1,568,744 for 1,175 lots offered, although after auction sales are still ongoing and could push the total even higher.

"I'm thrilled that we surpassed the $1.5 million mark yet again, and that sales of vintage movie posters are stronger than ever," said Grey Smith, Director of Vintage Poster auctions for Heritage. "Over the last five years, we've seen vintage posters grow into a strong, vibrant hobby that seems to be attracting more and more collectors. I'm very happy that Heritage has been in the forefront of promoting vintage movie posters to collectors worldwide."

"This auction was filled with surprises," Smith said. "Of course, horror and sci-fi posters performed well, as they always do, but crime material seems to be on the upswing. Also, I was very pleased to see how well the aviation material did. This is a rather esoteric corner of the vintage poster market, albeit one with some beautiful graphics, and we were unsure how widely these posters would be accepted. I'm pleased to say that poster aficionados eagerly embraced these lovely images."

"When compared to the results in some of our other venues, I realize that $1.5 million may not seem like a lot," Smith said, "but bear in mind that Heritage is the only auction house ever to reach that level for a vintage movie poster auction, and we've reached it more than once. Some poster dealers boast about selling $1 million worth of posters in an entire year - Heritage does that every few months!"

Heritage Auction Galleries' next Vintage Movie Poster Signature Auction will be held March 30, 2007 in Dallas, Texas. For more information, or to bid online, please visit www.HA.com/MoviePosters.
