Description:
The Sea Beast (Warner Brothers, 1926). One Sheet (27" X 41") Style A.
John Barrymore had always wanted to do a film version of Herman Melville's Moby Dick, and banking on Barrymore's box office appeal, Warner Brothers was happy to accommodate the star. The Sea Beast was a loose adaptation of the novel, rewritten to give the story more of a romantic flair. The 10-reel silent was the film on which Barrymore wooed Dolores Costello, whom he would marry soon after the picture wrapped. Barrymore would later remember this film as his favorite and he would star in the remake of 1930 titled Moby Dick. This beautiful stone litho one sheet shows only pinholes in the borders, pinpoint cross fold separation, and a crease in the right border. Very Fine. Estimate: .
