Description:
Boston Theatre Photo Lot (Olympia and Metropolitan, 1930-1980). Photos (8) (8" X 10" & 9" X 11").
Vintage gelatin silver, double and single weight, glossy keybook and regular photos. These historical photographs show just how terrific were the "font-of-house" displays at motion picture theatres in the 1930s. The Metropolitan Theatre (now the Wang Center) has great displays for City Streets, Unfaithful, 24 Hours, and Trouble in Paradise , all 1931-1932. There is an interesting group of photos for The Olympia theatre from its hey-day as an important first run house to its demise in 1980 as The Pilgrim Theatre, showing adult films before being torn down. Note the unique displays down for Monkey Business and Al Jolson's Big Boy. Unrestored photos with bright color and a clean overall appearance. They may have general signs of use, such as slight edge wear, mild toning, and some scrapbook paper residue on the verso of one. Please see full-color, enlargeable image below for more details. Very Fine+.
